After months of lockdown in Nairobi, we finally escaped to the Aberdares. Mt. Satima stands at 4,001m — Kenya’s third highest point. The wet moorland terrain made every step an adventure, but the views from above the cloud line made it all worth it.
I had carried my camera but realized midway that the memory card was bad. These shots were all captured on my Pixel 3a — proof that sometimes the best camera is the one you have with you.
The Shamata route gave us sweeping views across the highland moors. At this altitude, the vegetation shifts to giant lobelias and tussock grass, creating an otherworldly landscape.
